    * Please note -

    Recent technological changes have put the ICD-9-CM codes available in a variety of new formats. Both free and paid iPhone and Droid applications are available in addition to online information sites such as Wikipedia. The U.S. Government has recently opened an application site as well, though as of July 2010, an ICD-9-CM application is not yet available.

    ICD-10-CM codes -

    The United States will begin official use of ICD-10 on October 1, 2013, using Clinical Modification ICD-10-CM for diagnosis coding and Procedure Coding System ICD-10-PCS for inpatient hospital procedure coding.

    All HIPAA "covered entities" must make the change. A pre-requisite to ICD-10 is the adoption of EDI Version 5010 by January 1, 2012.

    As of January, 2009, the implementation of ICD-10 has been delayed from October 1, 2011 to October 1, 2013.

                                                              Click selection

         Clicking the left pointing arrow near the left end of the Address bar returns to the previous page. Clicking the right pointing arrow near the left end of the Address bar if active returns to the next page.  Clicking the arrow (go) near the right end of the address bar takes a page to its top.

NAVIGATION
         At the top of each page is a link titled ICDMENU that returns the user to the ICDMENU page. This is the hub link for transportation in the ICD-9-CM web.

        About 80% of all browsers in use are Microsoft Internet Explorer. It provides a back arrow above Address at the top of the browser page. Clicking the back arrow returns the user to the previous screen shown in the browser.

        A little to the right of the Address bar of the brower is a curved arrow. Clicking the curved arrow takes the user to the left top of the page, where the ICDMENU link is located.

        The two arrow links together with the ICDMENU link provide easy and complete navigation.

        Excepting the Index of Diseases and the Index of Procedures, Scrolling is the method for searching. The two indexes have MAIN TERMS shortcuts for scrolling. The main term shortcuts start the scrolling searches at the main term in the Index.

        Finding information generally as to an item may be obtained by typing the word 'find' in the browser address with a space following and the name of the item. The information is a Microsoft general search.
